For the past five years the AIA has done a disservice to its' members and local chapters.

Over the past two years the AIA National has made a $25M loss.

Yet the top ten executives took home over $8M.

Help us put pressure for an open and independent audit and sign our petition for a public hearing at the AIA National Convention in Boston

The distress is in the details

From 2020 to 2025 the AIA has been in turmoil.

Recent financials have only just been made available by the organization via the IRS. Fortunately ProPublica and our analysis through AI has found bloated salaries, assets sold to cover losses and diminishing support and grants to community organizations.

Some troubling information from the recent financials

AIA HQ owes its' foundation $270K

Under liabilities the AIA noted that the AIA owes the foundation over $1/4M even though it has over $200M in assets. At the same time it is actively selling philanthropic assets to offset recent losses.

Almost $1M in spending outside the US

The AIA HQ spent $986,115 in meetings, travel and software development outside the US.

Income from Real Estate and Investments

The AIA made $12.8M from real estate and investment holdings.

Six Years of Financials

Please find the IRS filings for the American Institute of Architects from 2018 to 2023.
The 2023 filing was delayed by 5 months and only became available in 2025. We believe it may have been to hide a third year of losses.
